The file format was designed with efficiency in mind, which makes it one of the most compact and efficient file formats for storing contact data. It was created by the Card Factory group, a company based in Germany. vCard is a modern, easy-to-use and open standard for contact data exchange.
The vCard format consists of a header, a contacts list and an optional body. The contacts list contains a person's name, phone number, email address, etc. The body can be of any type and can be empty or it can contain more than one contact data field. The vCard format is a text-based format, which means it's easy to transfer and it's easy to read. vCard is an open standard, which means it's free and it's open for everybody.
The app can import and export contacts to/from vCard files. It supports both vCard 2. and vCard 4.0 format. It also supports the import of contacts from other Android, Windows, and iOS apps.
